The EarlyBird Diabetes Trust
The EarlyBird Diabetes Trust exists to support the work of the EarlyBird Study
Based in Plymouth, England, the study aims to unravel the factors that lead to diabetes and its complications. The seeds of diabetes are sown in childhood, and the charity’s mission – Stop diabetes in childhood – declares the need to act early if the epidemic of diabetes is to be prevented. No other such study exists in children to establish the factors responsible. EarlyBird is divided into four phases, each of them lasting three years, that chart the lifestyle progress of children between the ages of five and 16. The Trust aims to raise funds to keep the study viable, to publicise and promote the work of the study and to support the children and families who do so much to contribute towards this vital research.
